Show Description
This show tells the story of Dolly Parton's rise to fame while performing on the Porter Wagner Show in the 1960s and 1970s. The story begins with an introduction of the variety show and Dolly herself but quickly turns to Dolly's frustration when she is not able to perform her own music on Porter's show. We follow the characters as they work through their differences and ultimately decide to part ways as friends. Dolly's story and fame are unfolding as we end the show. "Live your life with arms wide open. Today is where your book begins!"

In "A Midsummer Night Fais Do-Do," we travel back to the 1930s and attend a "Fais Do-Do," a cajun dance party. At the party we see the Enchantress and company bewitch the guests. Love is lost and couples are separated.

In "Friends of My Dreams," we travel back into a Grandmother's dreams as she reflects on a life well-lived. As she travels makes her way through her past, via her dreams we feel the tension and beauty of her memories as her life comes to a close. She is proud and triumphant as she drifts into a deep sleep.
